Sweet Possession by Maya Banks

Sweet Possession (Sweet, #5)Sweet Possession by Maya Banks
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Maya, Maya, Maya...another good one! I was attached from the beginning. I love the backstory to Lyric's name and I loved watching her grow. Connor was sexy from the start...always had my eye on him. Haha, but I loved it. Read it anywhere I went. Can't wait to see more from the Sweet series!

Lover Unleashed - JR Ward

                                    (Warning: Spoilers)
I'm floored once again! Manny and Payne are sexy hot! I love their chemistry, the spark they have. I was devastated at first when it seemed she wasn't going to get better...but what do you know? Sex heals. Haha, I loved that. And the way it seems...as long as she keeps doing her glow trick every once in a while on him, he won't need to worry about age. I just hope that holds true in his life span as well as body. I'm excited to see how they grow through the series and when they get mated. Will he get her name on his back? I hope so.

Part of the reason I love the series style books is catching up with a couple after the book. Seeing V and Jane struggle killed me but I love the place they are now. And all the Wardisms are fantastic...I can't get enough of it, true? I often find myself speaking like V for a while at least lol.

When I read Twilight, I hurt for Jacob because he could not be with his love and he was my favorite. Qhuinn...he's in the same boat and I cannot wait for his book. Plus he has the added question of whether he'll be with a male or female. Gives it a nice curve and note of unpredictability, which rocks. Though I have many favorites...Q is not the only one.

I'm glad there wasn't a lot of focus on the lessers this time. When we get to the sections from their point of view, I cringe. Only cause I hate them! lol Although Veck is interesting...I'm curious about him and what Xcor will do. He's still going through with his plan it seems so we will see. He better not get the best of my brothers, I'm tellin ya! No one can. They'll probably come back more in the next book, but this one was a nice break from their bullshit.

Fantastic work once again Warden! Much love for the books

~*~*~*~
I just recently read this book and was blown away by it. And because I love it so much, I wanted to share a piece of it. It's called Witch Fire and it's by Anya Bast. It's the first book of hers I've read and I can relate to some parts. Probably part of why I was so blown away. Hehehe. Anywho, here's the scene. :)

~*~*~*Spoilers Ahead*~*~*~

    "You need to be trained."
Mira stared at him for a moment before replying. "Why?"
"You're a powerful breed of witch who hasn't had a day of instruction in her life. Don't you want to know who you are?"
Mira winced. The comment hit her somewhere tender. She pushed away from the table, stood, and stalked away from him. "I know who I am, and it isn't a witch," she answered him with her back to him.
"You think you know who you are, Mira? I see a woman adrift, not one at all sure of her course. I see a woman who has only deluded herself into thinking she knows where she's going."
Mira closed her eyes, feeling the truth of those words spear through her. Ever since her divorce she'd been fighting so hard to guide her life down a more positive road, but she wasn't sure she'd headed herself in the right direction. Mira had wondered more than once if she might be fooling herself.
She didn't even hear him approach. His hand fell on her shoulder and he turned her to face him. The expression he wore seemed conflicted, but she only had a moment to consider it. His arms wrapped around her, his heat and scent and masculinity closed over her, and he dragged her against his chest while his mouth came down on hers.
And the rest of the world simply faded away.
Slanting his mouth across hers, he flicked his tongue against her lips. She opened her mouth to allow him access and grabbed his upper arms, feeling the bunch and play of his biceps. His tongue stroked erotically against hers. Warm. Wet.
    Tasting. Testing.
It wiped all the thought from her mind. Jolts of pleasure skittered up her spine and through her body. A growling sound that seemed part ecstasy, part torture curled from his throat and made her knees go weak.
He broke the kiss and rested his forehead against hers for a moment. Both of them breathed fast and shallow. "Mira," he whispered. That one word seemed ripped from him.
She wondered at the intensity of it, but then he kissed her again and she was drowning. This time his lips slid over hers slowly. Her body felt weakened from the easy silken slip of his mouth across hers. Jack nipped at her bottom lip, dragging it gently between his teeth, before angling his mouth over hers and delving his tongue between her lips once again.
Mira heard some low, helpless sound and realized it was coming from her. The hardness of his erection pressed into her stomach. He was aroused. Very, very aroused.
Jack pushed his hand beneath the hem of her sweater at the small of her back and touched skin. All she could do was hold on for dear life as he caressed her there, his strong fingers massaging her muscles with an authority that mde her sex throb with need.
He eased his hand up, lingering for a moment over her bra strap, then moved down to cup her jeans-clad rear. Jack pulled her flush against his big body and made a low, appreciative sound in the back of his throat.

No Mercy by Sherrilyn Kenyon

Sherrilyn Kenyon...what a woman! Her Dark Hunter series was the first paranormal series I picked up and those first few books touched my heart like no others ever could. JR Ward comes very close, but Sherri's will always have a special place.

I can't tell you how many times I've laughed my buns off to the point of tears or sat there late at night, book in my lap after reading an emotional scene with tears streaming down my cheeks. I've so missed the dark hunters and were hunters in the series...and Nick. Oh my, my Nick. *sighs* He's been through hell and still no peace ahead yet. You'll get there, Nick! I can't wait to see that. I'm so glad he was in this book so much, he's one of my favorites with his sarcasm speak.

Dev. Was. Hilarious! And hot...so hot. His image is hella hot and I love how protective he is over Samia. He can't help but fall quick...how can he not?! Seriously, that was one helluva entrance she made. Sherri's done it again. She's made me fall for both hero and heroine right off the bat and not let go of that through the whole book. There are so many scene's I'd love to delve into, but I won't for spoilers sake. I will say though...Ash makes lots of appearances...*grins*

So for those who haven't been reading this series, I say get started! It's so fabulous!
Fantasy Lover is the first. Go buy it, read it, love it.

And for those who already do love the series...she's done it again!
No Mercy is fantastic!

Sweet Surrender by Maya Banks

Sweet Surrender
Sometimes the first step in taking control is surrendering.
Under Faith Malone’s deceptively soft exterior lies a woman who knows exactly what she wants. A strong man who’ll take without asking—because she’s willing to give him everything...
Dallas cop Gray Montgomery is on a mission: find the guy who killed his partner—and bring him to justice. So far, he’s found a link between the killer and Faith—and if Gray has to get close to her to catch the killer, so be it. Faith is sweet and feminine, everything Gray wants and desires in a woman, but he suspects she’s playing games. No way she would allow a man to call the shots in their relationship. Or would she?  Faith sees in Gray the strong, dominant man she needs, but he seems determined to keep her at a distance. So she takes matters into her own hands to prove to him it’s no game she’s playing. She’s willing to surrender to the right man. Gray would like to be that man. But catching his partner’s killer has to be his first priority. Until Faith is threatened and Gray realizes he will do anything to protect her.
Review

The beginning of a series always has to hook you. Reel you in and not let you back to the depths. I may not have read this book first in the series, but I believe this book would have reeled me in.
The mention of Micah alone would have done it(yeah I know....shame on me, he's not the main man :P). He's a fantastic secondary character and makes you itch for his book though.

Faith is so sweet, she makes you just want to hug her. Bonus that she's no pushover! She works with all men and they respect the hell out of her, which is so good to see.
Gray is one helluva man too. Yet another tortured soul! He's very sexy once he lets loose and I like his ways with Faith. The way they are together...very sweet indeed.

Sweet Persuasion by Maya Banks

For five years, Serena has run Fantasy Incorporated and has devoted her time to fulfilling her clients' fantasies. Never her own. Until now...

Her most secret desire is to give ownership of her body to a man. Someone who will command her, pleasure her, and have complete authority over her. So she seeks out Damon Roche, owner of an exclusive sex club and a man strong enough to make her do anything he wants. Anything.

Together they'll journey into a world she's only dreamed of. She's given the opportunity to immerse herself in a different life while her normal one waits for her to return whenever she wishes. Damon has no desire to let her go, however. Serena is the woman he's long searched for, and it's up to him to convince her to stay when the game is all over with. He wants their fantasy to become their reality and for Serena to remain his pampered, cherished submissive.

Review:
Recently I had been doing a little research into the BDSM world, and that was before I'd known about this book. It intrigues me in general, so when I started reading this book I was HOOKED. I hadn't realized that it was number two in a series, but thankfully the details from the first book were intriguing but weren't pertinant. I was able to read the second book and not be lost. *Wipes brow* Whew! I don't always like that though. There are some series where I love having to know all the details from the previous...but this series doesn't strike me as that sort.

I've realized lately that I've been drawn to people with dominant personalities. With or without the BDSM world. So when I began reading and found the male to be dominant, that really made my day. *Grins* I love the way Damon is portrayed. Stern where he needs to be, demanding, and above all, he cares.

Serena's a gem. I really liked her from the beginning. She's very strong and I can relate to her in some ways as well. It feels good when you can relate to the characters. Really puts you in the book and pulls your emotions in.

Here's a quote I liked that shows Serena's wit and made me want to read more about Micah:

She leaned in close and whispered next to his ear, "You couldn't handle me, honey."

His grip tightened around her as his body tensed against hers. He touched her cheek and turned her face up to meet his gaze.

"I wouldn't be so sure of that, baby doll."

There weren't many things that made me cringe or question. I'm not exactly a fan of bum play, but for this book I feel it was done tastefully and I was open to it because of that. The other thing was being cuffed to the bed while sleeping. It wasn't done every night, but I can't imagine being comfy enough to fall asleep that way. That may just be me though.

I truly enjoyed this book though. Anytime I was going to read it I made sure I'd be alone because I knew my face would be red as an apple the whole time. Maya Banks did a really good job of pulling me into it and keeping my interest, just as she had when I read Be with Me.

For this Pixie, it was a delicious read! I gobbled it up good *Giggles*

Born of Night Review

Watch the video for the storyline :D

I don't think I could ever imagine being in Nykyrian's place. Being that alone. But I do like how the story progressed. How Kiara had healed him. Helped him to deal with old wounds and become all the more stronger for it.

I loved the book and would recommend it to anyone. I had to get used to the futuristic aspect of it, like the terms. I'm not used to the futuristic terms so they seemed silly at first. I stopped reading it the first time I tried because of life getting in the way. When I began the second time I was more hooked and more open to the futuristic terms as well.

I did not like how Nyk had stayed away from Kiara when he thought it would be best for her. I never like that in a story.

Reading about the secondary characters made me want to read their stories and find out more about them. Sherrilyn Kenyon always has a way about her writing that just draws me in. She makes me go through all my emotions...fantastic.

The Wolf's Heart

When a nosy reporter reunites with a werewolf in tycoon’s clothing, sparks fly and passions ignite. The burning question is, who’s taming who?
Investigative Reporter Elaine Westerbrook is determined to find the answers to the questions that haunt her. Plagued all her life by dreams of creatures that can’t possibly exist, she’ll do anything to get the information she needs, up to and including reigniting a fire with the deliciously mysterious Marcus Bei—a fire she thought extinguished long ago.
Marcus Bei fought tooth and claw to be an Alpha in the corporate world but it’s nothing compared to being Alpha of his pack. It’s lonely at the top as the Lupin of the Arizona werewolf pack, but that’s the price he’ll pay to keep his pack safe from his father and others like him. So when childhood sweetheart Elaine walks back into his life, his first instinct is to shove her right back out again. But Marcus can’t find the strength to push away the very thing his other half has been waiting for so long—his mate.
Together, Marcus and Elaine search for the truth and find out if they have a future in spite of a past threatening to tear them apart. Will Elaine run when she discovers what Marcus really is, or will she accept The Wolf’s Heart.

Warning, this title contains the following: explicit sex, graphic language, violence.

Pixie's Ponderings

Damn....talk about alpha! Marcus is THE alpha in his pack and Lainie isn't educated on how the females are supposed to act. But that works out just fine, she proves herself in the end and things work out just as they should. There were a lot of characters that intervened in their relationship. Some good, some bad...
Not sure I liked that so much.
I love that they grew up together. The way he always was her protector just tugs at my heartstrings. She's a nosy one too. After my own heart! *Giggles*
Marcus...*melts* He's Native American which already makes my heart go boom boom and to top that the setting is Arizona. I was born there and been a ping pong ball between there and where I am now.
That combo alone hooked me.
And then the story itself was just so....*sighs* I loved it. Absolutely loved it. He fucks like an animal and is alpha all the way through. And it was an erotic novel so there was plenty of sexin to go around. *winks*
Love love loved it and I want more like it.
*grins*

Pixie's Ponderings

I never really thought demons could be this hot! Doc E just makes me wanna get rid of panties forever. I love when a man knows what he's doing and does it well. The fact that Doc E is in charge of the entire UG is calling out to my love for alpha men all over.

And the chick...she's kickass. I love when the female of the story is strong. She fought just as well as Doc E did and I loved that. Sometimes reading about chicks that physcially kick ass makes me wanna learn martial arts. Good think I don't walk the streets of NY or I'd definitely make sure I knew how to take someone down first.

I took a long time to read it...but damn it was still good! I should not be getting any more books yet because I have a flippin library awaiting me, but this is definitely a series I want to keep reading.

Shade and Wraith definitely had my attention.
My greedy fingers are just itching for them.

Lucky Break by Carly Phillips

Lucky Break Pictures, Images and Photos
Wow! The Corwin Curse is broken!

I just finished the last book in the series of the Corwin curse. Lucky Break by Carly Phillips. She's fantastic, I always loved reading her, I've got tons of her books. She's my number one non paranormal author.

The basic gist of the curse is that if any Corwin man falls in love, he is destined lose his love and his fortune. And so far....that curse has held true. Every Corwin man has loved and lost both his love and fortune up till now.

I liked this one about Jason Corwin and Lauren Perkins. Jason was going for the gold in the Olymics for snowboarding, until the girlfriend he had slipped steroids into his powdered shakes he drank daily. That made me want to slap her stupid, but she already was. :P So with him being banned from the sport, his dreams dashed, he went home and began running a construction company to pass the time and pay the bills. Fun? I think not. Though sometimes the candy can be pretty good.

Lauren is a fashion designer trying to make it big. She'd just sold her sketches to a big timer and her designs are going to be shown in Paris during fashion week. That is HUGE! Many kudos to Lauren for that. I always do like my girlie fashion and model shows. *Giggles* Lauren's come back to revamp her dead grandmother's house and sell it. Go figure that Jason's working construction eh? *waggles eyebrows*

Her sister Beth has been a very bad girl...and very disturbed. You see...Lauren is the only sane and generally nice person of her family. Her sister is in a psych ward of the prison under little security and she's the basic villian of the story. I wanna slap her too, but that's no surprise. Haha. Lauren wants to believe in the best in her sister and I can relate to that. I tend to believe the best in people until they crash it.

These two are so cute together though, like the way Jason protects Lauren from ridcule from his family and the townspeople. Because of the way her mayor grandmother and the rest of her family had been in town, no one likes the idea of a Perkins. They've done everything in their power to crush people. And when Lauren receives the brunt of that, he helps in anyway he can. I adore that. Protective guys ALWAYS get my vote.

At times it lulled but it was overall a good book to me. It was a bit mellow especially on the smut, but that's alright. I needed that at the moment. It feels good to have the loose ends tied up, everyone happy, and I got to see my pagan woman again. :D She's so sweet, I really like her.

I give it 4 out of 5 naughty frisks.
