Sexy Wednesday

     Sexy Wednesday this week is a snippet from Sweet Surrender by Maya Banks. This is the first book in the Sweet series and it's totally made of amazing.
     Each book has some aspect of BDSM in it, some more than most. This one is more sweet and sensual, but that doesn't take away from Gray in any way. He's definitely dom.
     So without further ado...here's the scene I chose:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
     Friday seemed a light-year away. She was nervous as hell at the idea of waltzing into some fetish club by herself, but another part of her was proud of the fact that she’d ventured so far out of her comfort zone.
     Strong. Confident. If she wanted those qualities in a man, then maybe it was time she started exhibiting them herself. Like attracted like, didn’t it?
     “I’d give up beer for a week to know what’s going on inside your head right now.”
     She blinked and refocused and saw that Gray was staring at her. “Oh, sorry. Was just thinking.”
     He chuckled. “Like I said, I’d love to know about what.”
     She wouldn’t blush. Would. Not. Blush. She could feel herself losing the battle as the wave of heat crept up her neck. Damn it.
     He hooted with laughter and picked up a napkin to wipe his mouth. “That blush just gave you away, darlin’.”
     She groaned. “It’s not polite to keep pointing out my faults.”
     He leaned forward and tipped her chin up with his finger. “Not a fault at all. I find it sexy as hell.”
     Goose bumps trickled down her spine, back up again and over her shoulders. Her nipples tightened, and the muscles in her pussy constricted.
     A dot of ketchup rested in the corner of his mouth, and it gave her an excuse to touch him. God, she wanted to touch him. She raised a finger and gently wiped the ketchup away. When she would have withdrawn her hand to wipe it on a napkin, he captured her finger then raised it to his mouth.
     His lips closed hot over the tip, then his tongue swirled over the skin, licking away the ketchup. The action sent a shock wave through her system. She sat, stunned at her reaction.
     Slowly he pulled her hand away, sliding his tongue along her finger until it left his mouth. When he released her, she let her hand fall to her lap, trying to disguise the shaking.
     “I should go,” she said, saying the first thing that popped into her mind. That was a lie. She didn’t want to go but didn’t know what to say or how to react to the blatant sensuality between them.
     “Why don’t I follow you back?” he offered. “I’m headed home too. I’ll see you to your door.”
     “O-okay.” She sucked in several steadying breaths so her voice didn’t waver so damn much. After collecting her purse, she dug for her cash and started to flip a few bills onto the countertop.
     Gray held out a hand and shoved her money back to her. “I got it.”
     She slowly pulled the money back and stuck it back in her purse. “Thanks.”
     She waited as he paid their tabs, and then he turned around to face her. “Shall we?” he asked, gesturing toward the exit.
Sweet Possession by Maya Banks
Sweet Possession (Sweet, #5)Sweet Possession by Maya Banks
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Maya, Maya, Maya...another good one! I was attached from the beginning. I love the backstory to Lyric's name and I loved watching her grow. Connor was sexy from the start...always had my eye on him. Haha, but I loved it. Read it anywhere I went. Can't wait to see more from the Sweet series!
Sweet Surrender by Maya Banks
Sweet Surrender
Sometimes the first step in taking control is surrendering.
Under Faith Malone’s deceptively soft exterior lies a woman who knows exactly what she wants. A strong man who’ll take without asking—because she’s willing to give him everything...
Dallas cop Gray Montgomery is on a mission: find the guy who killed his partner—and bring him to justice. So far, he’s found a link between the killer and Faith—and if Gray has to get close to her to catch the killer, so be it. Faith is sweet and feminine, everything Gray wants and desires in a woman, but he suspects she’s playing games. No way she would allow a man to call the shots in their relationship. Or would she?  Faith sees in Gray the strong, dominant man she needs, but he seems determined to keep her at a distance. So she takes matters into her own hands to prove to him it’s no game she’s playing. She’s willing to surrender to the right man. Gray would like to be that man. But catching his partner’s killer has to be his first priority. Until Faith is threatened and Gray realizes he will do anything to protect her.
Review
The beginning of a series always has to hook you. Reel you in and not let you back to the depths. I may not have read this book first in the series, but I believe this book would have reeled me in.
The mention of Micah alone would have done it(yeah I know....shame on me, he's not the main man :P). He's a fantastic secondary character and makes you itch for his book though.
Faith is so sweet, she makes you just want to hug her. Bonus that she's no pushover! She works with all men and they respect the hell out of her, which is so good to see.
Gray is one helluva man too. Yet another tortured soul! He's very sexy once he lets loose and I like his ways with Faith. The way they are together...very sweet indeed.
Sweet Persuasion by Maya Banks
For five years, Serena has run Fantasy Incorporated and has devoted her time to fulfilling her clients' fantasies. Never her own. Until now...
Her most secret desire is to give ownership of her body to a man. Someone who will command her, pleasure her, and have complete authority over her. So she seeks out Damon Roche, owner of an exclusive sex club and a man strong enough to make her do anything he wants. Anything.
Together they'll journey into a world she's only dreamed of. She's given the opportunity to immerse herself in a different life while her normal one waits for her to return whenever she wishes. Damon has no desire to let her go, however. Serena is the woman he's long searched for, and it's up to him to convince her to stay when the game is all over with. He wants their fantasy to become their reality and for Serena to remain his pampered, cherished submissive.
Review:
Recently I had been doing a little research into the BDSM world, and that was before I'd known about this book. It intrigues me in general, so when I started reading this book I was HOOKED. I hadn't realized that it was number two in a series, but thankfully the details from the first book were intriguing but weren't pertinant. I was able to read the second book and not be lost. *Wipes brow* Whew! I don't always like that though. There are some series where I love having to know all the details from the previous...but this series doesn't strike me as that sort.
I've realized lately that I've been drawn to people with dominant personalities. With or without the BDSM world. So when I began reading and found the male to be dominant, that really made my day. *Grins* I love the way Damon is portrayed. Stern where he needs to be, demanding, and above all, he cares.
Serena's a gem. I really liked her from the beginning. She's very strong and I can relate to her in some ways as well. It feels good when you can relate to the characters. Really puts you in the book and pulls your emotions in.
Here's a quote I liked that shows Serena's wit and made me want to read more about Micah:
She leaned in close and whispered next to his ear, "You couldn't handle me, honey."
His grip tightened around her as his body tensed against hers. He touched her cheek and turned her face up to meet his gaze.
"I wouldn't be so sure of that, baby doll."
There weren't many things that made me cringe or question. I'm not exactly a fan of bum play, but for this book I feel it was done tastefully and I was open to it because of that. The other thing was being cuffed to the bed while sleeping. It wasn't done every night, but I can't imagine being comfy enough to fall asleep that way. That may just be me though.
I truly enjoyed this book though. Anytime I was going to read it I made sure I'd be alone because I knew my face would be red as an apple the whole time. Maya Banks did a really good job of pulling me into it and keeping my interest, just as she had when I read Be with Me.
For this Pixie, it was a delicious read! I gobbled it up good *Giggles*
